Ficheall is the network of primary school teachers in Ireland who promote the playing of chess in schools for the social, cognitive and mental-fitness benefits it has for students.

Ficheall use a 3-stage approach:

1 – Participate

Ficheall provide support and lesson plans for teachers to teach chess in their class or as an extra-curricular activity and establish an in-school chess league.

2 – Represent

Ficheall organise one-day regional competitions for schools to enter teams of 8 players and play against students from other schools. It’s all about children playing chess!

3 – Féilte Fichille

Ficheall organise one-day competitive tournaments for school chess teams who perform to a high standard at the regional tournaments.

Listen to the boys from Blarney St. BNS discuss why they love chess, as heard on RTE Radio 1 Drivetime.
